USC Trojans at Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn State to win • LOSS • USC 31 — PENN STATE 23

Welcome back to the annual whiteout with USC facing Penn State in the toughest environment in college sports. PSU is absolutely reeling right now, and have virtually no identity on either side of the ball. USC nearly lost at home to a pi$$ poor Washington squad after getting smoked at home by Oregon. Looking at this spread makes me think that Vegas knows something here. USC has to fly across the country to play in a hostile environment. I think PSU may be able to pull this one out based simply on the environment and USC’s jet lag.

MPA: AGREES

Florida State Seminoles at Louisville Cardinals

Florida State to win • LOSS • FLORIDA STATE 20 — LOUISVILLE 44

This is an example of two teams going in different directions. If this game is in Tallahassee, it is a guaranteed win for FSU. FSU has won two in a row, while Louisville has lost two in a row. Look for FSU to get the ball in to Duce Robinson’s hands a lot. Both teams will put up points in this matchup, but FSU is going to be victorious in the end.

MPA: DISAGREES

Indiana Hoosiers at Nebraska Cornhuskers

Nebraska +7.5 • WIN • INDIANA 20 — NEBRASKA 17

Who’d have thunk that this would be a matchup of undefeated teams after five weeks? Indiana is going to have its hands full going into Lincoln. Anthony Colandrea is showing that he is a solid QB for the PornHuskers. I am still not sold that Indiana is this juggernaut. I maintain that they are a 2 loss team this year. This game is going to come down to the wire, with the Hoosiers pulling it out in the end. Take the points.

MPA: DISAGREES

UCLA Bruins at Oregon Ducks

OVER 58.5 • LOSS • UCLA 17 — OREGON 15

If you like offense, this is sure to be a solid game to watch. Dante Moore will not be playing. However, Big Ten turncoat and money chaser Dylan Raiola is under center and he is talented. On the other side, we have another absolute bag chasing clown in Nico IamaLOSER. Both QB’s are super talented and should put up some eye popping numbers in this game. I think that this could be a blowout in Eugene, but the over is a better bet.

MPA: AGREES

Georgia Bulldogs at Alabama Crimson Tide

Georgia to win • WIN • GEORGIA 20 — ALABAMA 17

This is the breadwinner of week 6 matchups. Both teams are undefeated going into this matchup in TuscaLOSER. On one side, you have the seasoned veteran in Gunner Stockton. On the other side, you have future Heisman candidate Keelon Russell. If this game is in Athens, I think Georgia wins easily. Having the game be in TuscaLOSER, makes it a little more difficult to determine. I am going to ride with the seasoned QB in this one. Georgia for the win.

Wisconsin Badgers at Penn State Nittany Lions

WISCONSIN ATS • +10 • WIN • Wisconsin 24 — Penn State 20

Wisconsin has played well since getting blown out by Notre Dame in its opener, but this is a night game at Beaver Stadium, where visiting teams outside the Big Ten elite rarely leave with a win. Penn State may be without Koby Howard, though CFG does not expect that to decide the matchup. Penn State is too balanced and should make Wisconsin’s passing game work for everything. CFG expects Penn State to win, but Wisconsin to keep it inside the number.

MPA: AGREES

Northwestern Wildcats at Indiana Hoosiers

NORTHWESTERN ATS • +21 • WIN • Indiana 29 — Northwestern 23

Both teams enter undefeated, and Northwestern has been playing well. The Wildcats have playmakers in Griffin Wilde and Gavin Sawchuk, while Indiana remains loaded with Charlie Becker, Nick Marsh and talent across the roster. Indiana should win at home, but CFG expects a more competitive game than the market’s three-touchdown spread suggests.

MPA: DISAGREES

Oklahoma Sooners at Georgia Bulldogs

GEORGIA ATS • -14 • WIN • Georgia 41 — Oklahoma 13

Oklahoma is still reeling after its loss at Michigan and failed to separate from New Mexico last week. Now the Sooners travel to Athens to face one of the nation’s top teams. Georgia again looks formidable with Gunner Stockton leading the offense. CFG believes Oklahoma remains shell-shocked and that John Mateer and company are walking into a matchup capable of ending their playoff hopes.

MPA: DISAGREES

Texas A&M Aggies at LSU Tigers

LSU ATS • -8.5 • WIN • LSU 35 — Texas A&M 6

Both teams arrive off their first losses. Texas A&M’s highly regarded defense was rocked by Kentucky, while LSU and Lane Kiffin were handed a loss in Oxford. CFG expects LSU to bounce back at home, with the Aggies still trying to recover from the damage Kentucky inflicted.

MPA: DISAGREES

Oregon Ducks at USC Trojans

OVER • 62.5 • WIN • Oregon 41 — USC 27

This is the game CFG most wants to watch. USC remains unbeaten, while Oregon is coming off an ugly loss to Oklahoma State. Both teams have NFL talent throughout the roster. Dan Lanning has an opportunity to make a statement against a USC defense that continues to look vulnerable. If Oregon responds, both teams should score in a game CFG expects to clear the total with USC on the losing end.

College Week 2

CFG weekly: 1–4 • Season: 5–5

Penn State at Temple

PENN STATE -23.5 • LOSS • Penn State 27 — Temple 9

Penn State took Marshall to the woodshed in its first game of the Matt Campbell era and dominated every aspect of the game. Former Penn State third-stringer Jaxon Smolik will share duties with Imani Sheppard, a dangerous runner whose passing remains a concern. Temple should not have much of a home-field advantage, with Philadelphia only about three hours from State College and plenty of Penn State fans expected. CFG does not see Temple faring much better against this strong Penn State team.

MPA: AGREES

Georgia Southern at Clemson

GEORGIA SOUTHERN +20.5 • WIN • Clemson 22 — Georgia Southern 7

This game fits CFG’s gambling mantra: keep an eye on momentum. Clemson and Georgia Southern are heading in opposite directions. People are already out for blood in Death Valley after Clemson was smoked by LSU in Baton Rouge, while Georgia Southern has won four straight dating back to last season and just shut out Charleston Southern. Clemson will likely win, but CFG expects this one to be much closer than the line.

MPA: AGREES

San Diego State at UCLA

OVER 55.5 • LOSS • UCLA 28 — San Diego State 10

UCLA opened the Bob Chesney era by smoking a talented Cal team, 45–24. San Diego State also rolled in its opener, beating Portland State 53–20. CFG sees plenty of points in this matchup. San Diego State should keep it somewhat competitive and score enough to help send the game over the total of 55.5.

MPA: DISAGREES

Towson at South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA -43.5 • LOSS • South Carolina 45 — Towson 9

Towson is already 0–2 and was mowed down by Navy last week. South Carolina has a legitimate Heisman contender in LaNorris Sellers. CFG expects the Gamecocks to pour it on and is not sure Towson scores at all.

MPA: DISAGREES

Ohio State at Texas

TEXAS -1.5 • LOSS • Texas 24 — Ohio State 23

This is a rematch of last year’s game in Columbus, where Ohio State handled Texas. Both teams are loaded with Heisman-level talent: Arch Manning and Cam Coleman on one side, Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith on the other. With that much offensive talent, CFG expects points and says Texas plus the over is an especially tempting combination.

Marshall at Penn State

UNDER 54.5 • Result not saved • Final score not saved

Aren’t we all excited for our first family outing to the Beav to watch my beloved Penn State Nittany Mercenaries against the Marshall Thundering Herd. I like to think that I have a decent feel for this year’s team. I think that though the team lacks the star NFL talent, it will be very balanced on both sides of the ball. Rocco Becht is a very good college QB and there are good to excellent players all over the field. PSU’s secondary should be very difficult to throw on. Look for Marshall to get a few broken chunk plays, but very few sustained drives. PSU by three scores.

MPA: AGREES

Miami at Stanford

STANFORD +24.5 • Result not saved • Final score not saved

This game has that dreaded cross country time zone change. That seems to always affect teams playing away. Stanford just won a tough home game against Hawaii, but played pretty well. Miami has one of the best QB-WR combinations in the country in Darian Mensah to Malachi Toney. Toney is a future NFL all pro. I put a lot of chicken stock into that road trip giving Miami a problem or two. Miami is just too talented though.

MPA: AGREES

North Texas at Indiana

NORTH TEXAS +40.5 • Result not saved • Final score not saved

Everybody is so enthralled with this Indiana team. Keep in mind that they just lost multiple players to the NFL including the Heisman winner in Fernando Mendoza, 1st round WR Omar Cooper, and star WR Elijah Surratt. Of course they have the magician in Cignetti, and the transfer portal to save their a$$. I just don’t see a top five team…yet. North Texas always fields a decent enough team who competes. I think they keep it closer that the number. Maybe with ease...

MPA: AGREES

Wisconsin at Notre Dame

OVER 47.5 • Result not saved • Final score not saved

Will this be ND’s year? Our wallets certainly hope so. Other than that, I hope they fall flat on their fcuking faces. This team is loaded. CJ Carr is a legit Heisman candidate. They have to replace both Love/Price in the backfield, but RB is overrated. They were an absolute buzzsaw last year after losing back to back games to Miami and ATM. Their schedule this year is embarrassing. Wisconsin has been abhorrent for what seems like forever. This may be Luke Fickell’s last hurray in Madison. I think they are good enough to score some points, but ND is loaded...as usual.

MPA: AGREES

SMU at Florida State

SMU -2.5 • Result not saved • Final score not saved

I think this is going to be Mike Norvell’s goose song at FSU. I watched some of their game against New Mexico State last weekend and they did not look good. SMU still has Kevin Jennings under center and the kid can straight play. SMU is going to be a playoff contender this year, and FSU is absolutely not. You are going to be hearing the FSU faithful calling for Norvell’s head after this game. SMU for the win.
